November Update

Parents/Students,

Below you will find a brief update for November. Changes will go into effect 11 / 1 at 2 pm.

Billing

First, I appreciate everyone’s patience while I was away. This week will be a particularly busy one since I am back and students from RRISD have no school 11 / 1. We will be crediting any missed sessions back, but please allow time for your account to reflect the update.

Queue System

Due to extremely high demand, and consistent requests for more available time slots, we will be testing a new feature this month; the Queue system is designed to allow a rolling queue for any student looking to connect with an instructor.

Note: Any sessions scheduled in our booking system for November will be credited back to allow us a chance to test this new feature.

If this feature is successful, then depending on student feedback, we will provide both the booking and queue system simultaneously in the month of December and moving forward.

Queue Instructions

  1. Enter Queue: Visit www.SquareOneLC.com and click on the chat icon in the lower right corner.
  2. Complete Form: Be sure to include the subject you wish to work on.
  3. Queue: If the queue is empty, then you will connect right away. Else, you will be notified of your place in line and approximate wait time.
  4. Connect Via Zoom: Be ready to click on the Zoom Invitation in-chat to begin your session.

Once connected, your session will be conducted in the same format as before. Be sure to connect using a PC/Mac; avoid using a phone or Chromebook if possible. You do not have to log in to the booking system to use the queue.

Queue Billing

Zoom sessions will now instantly activate a clock feature to keep track of time spent with a student. Once the session is complete, you will see a billing entry in the Account/Invoices tab of our booking system for the total time spent.

Session Length

The queue system is designed to have a quicker turnaround time. For example, we may reteach a concept with supplemental exercises, then provide the student with practice. At that point, we consider the session complete. The student can then disconnect and try the suggested practice on their own.

Note, sessions will not be rushed, but if a good stopping point is reached then we will encourage the student to disconnect. Students may re-enter the queue anytime if they have additional questions or would like to check their answers. This way students are not required to stay in session for a full hour and can instead utilize their time more wisely.

Availability

Since multiple instructors can monitor the queue, based on their personal availability, we should be able to provide extended hours; this would include early morning and late evening.
